Oilers Outpace Ohio Wesleyan in Duals

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams took on Ohio Wesleyan University in a dual meet on Saturday, November 9 at Ohio Wesleyan University. Both the men and women claimed victories with the men winning 198-66 and the women victorious by a score of 184-98.

Leading the Oilers to victory was Hanna Cedarholm after a few victories of her own on the day. Cedarholm won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24:66, the 100 yard freestyle (54:27), and teamed up with Megan Irwin, Kristina Coleman, and Ashton Klopp to win the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.77.

Irwin also won the 100 yard butterfly (1:01.99) while Coleman claimed first in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:08.00) and Klopp won in the 200 yard breastroke (2:40.32). Chris McFarland added a pair of victories for the Oilers on the day as well, winning in the 200 yard butterfly (2:17.57) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:14.41).

Rounding out the event wins for the Oilers were Sarah Miles in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:35.22), Katy Kouvaris in the 200 yard freestyle (2:01.31), Payton Zess in the 100 yard backstroke (1:01.52), and Sydney Zimdars in the 500 yard freestyle (5:29.56).

On the men's side, the Oilers were led by Trent Williams and his three victories. He won the 50 yard freestyle (22:39), 100 yard freestyle (49:23), and helped the relay team of himself, Adam Stretch, Tucker Stocker, and Isaac Stretch in the 400 yard medley with a time of 3:43.37.

Paul Pavala and Isaac Stretch also combined to have three victories. Pavala won in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:22.13), 100 yard backstroke (54:44), and the 500 yard freestyle (4:59.63). Stretch helped the 400 yard medley team to a victory along with wins in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:00.21) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:16.11).

Many Oilers added a pair of wins in their respective events. Dalton Shevlin won both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving events with final scores of 229.95 and 253.95.  Alex Wisler and Tim Strollings paired up with Adam Stretch and Tucker Stocker to win the 200 yard free relay with a time of 1:31.52. Wisler also added a win in the 100 yard butterfly wit ha time of 53:47 and Strollings went on to win the 200 yard butterfly (1:57.64).

Also winning a pair of events on the day was Jared Toaz in the 200 yard backstroke (2:01.14) and the 400 yard IM (4:22.03).

Rounding out the events won for the Oilers was Colin Martin in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.56.

The Oilers will compete next on Saturday, November 16 in Romeoville, Illinois versus Lewis University and Hillsdale College. The events are scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
