Oilers Score A Pair of Wins Against NDC

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams both scored victories over Notre Dame College on Feb. 27 in Sink Natatorium. The men won 153-102 while the women scored a 146-104 victory.

On the men's side, freshman Daniel Garcia won three events and set two school records at the meet. He won the 100-yard breaststroke with a school record-breaking time of 55.05, which was good enough for a "B" standard, and also set a school record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a first place finish of 2:02.47. His third win came in the 200-yard IM at 1:51.74.

Junior Paul Pavala claimed first place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (49.58) and 200-yard backstroke (1:53.43) for Findlay as well. He also teamed with Evan Patterson, freshman Luca Chiandussi, and freshman Aidan Shue to win the 200-yard medley relay at 1:35.28.

Chiandussi teamed with senior Nathan Bourne, freshman Adam Hornak, and Shue to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:26.97 and also posted a second place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a "B" time of 55.38.

Freshman Kristofers Bregis scored a pair of first place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (46.81) and 200-yard freestyle (1:40.73) while Hornak was first in the 100-yard butterfly at 50.73.

Sophomore Tim Stollings added a victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a "B" time of 1:48.25.

On the women's side, senior Sarah Miles had a hand in four victories to lead Findlay. She won the 100-yard freestyle (55.24) and 200-yard freestyle (1:59.87) individually and was also a part of two relay teams. She teamed with senior Ashton Klopp, junior Kristina Coleman, and junior Taylor Christensen to win the 200-yard medley relay (1:50.87) and joined Coleman, freshman Cecilia Langle, and freshman Zoey Fedele on their winning 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished in 1:42.33.

Coleman won the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:08.74, Fedele was first in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:21.47, and Klopp was victorious in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:17.92.
