Stollings Wins National Title in 100-Yard Butterfly

Sophomore Tim Stollings had an incredible day for the University of Findlay men's swimming and diving team on March 18 at the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship as he took home an individual title in the 100-yard butterfly and was named All-American in the 50-yard freestyle.

Stollings began the day by taking 16th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.22 to earn All-American honors before having to swim the 100-yard butterfly later in the evening.

Due to weather delays, the preliminary round of the 100-yard butterfly was canceled and Stollings had one chance to bring home the gold. Stollings did just that as he won the event and secured the Oilers first NCAA Division II National Championship with a time of 45.57, the third-fastest time in DII history. The swim also set new school records and broke the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) record as well.

Stollings will have one more chance at gold as he will swim the 100-yard backstroke tomorrow.
