Oilers Complete Day 1 of G-MAC/MEC Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) on March 30 in Canton, Ohio. The men's team currently leads the championship event with 192 points while the women are in third with 156 points.

On the men's side, the Oilers 800-yard freestyle team of senior Nathan Bourne, freshman Daniel Garcia, Adam Hornak, and freshman Dags Bregis set a new school and G-MAC record by winning their event with a time of 6:46.52.

Bregis also won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:55.35 while the Oilers 200-yard medley relay team of junior Paul Pavala, freshman Luca Chiandussi, sophomore Tim Stollings, and freshman Aidan Shue set a meet record in winning with time of 1:29.09.

Senior Dalton Shevlin claimed a victory in the 1-meter dive for the Oilers as well with 415.15 points.

On the women's side, the Oilers 200-yard medley relay team of senior Ashton Klopp, junior Kristina Coleman, freshman Zoey Fedele, and sophomore Rachel Poling captured first place with a time of 1:45.25.

The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow.
