More Records Fall on Day 3 of G-MAC Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up day three of the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship on April 1 in Canton, Ohio. The men are winning the event with 1,088.5 points, over 400 better than second place Hillsdale, while the women are sitting in second with 1,043 points and within striking distance of Hillsdale's lead of 1,170.5 points.

Sophomore Tim Stollings and freshman Daniel Garcia paced the men's team on the third day of competition as they each won two events. Stollings won the 100-yard butterfly with a meet record time of 46.00, the sixth-fastest time in NCAA Division II history, and also captured top honors in the 100-yard backstroke with a school record-breaking time of 46.73. His time, which is the 13th fastest in NCAA Division II history, also established G-MAC and meet records.

Garcia also set some records during the competition, winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a school record-breaking time of 53.77, which also set meet and G-MAC records. He took first place in the 400-yard IM as well with a time of 4:00.54 and his swim of 3:56.17 during the preliminary round was good enough to establish school and meet records.

Freshman Adam Hornak won the 200-yard freestyle with time of 1:40.44 and teamed with senior Nathan Bourne, freshman Evan Patterson and freshman Luca Chiandussi to win the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:24.28.

Senior Dalton Shevlin took home a championship in the 3-meter dive with 427.50 points while junior Paul Pavala finished as the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke at 49.83.

Freshman Dags Bregis was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:40.64 and Chiandussi was third in the 100-yard breaststroke at 55.99.

Freshman Maria Argyropoulou took first place honors in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.52 to lead the women while senior Sarah Miles earned a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:54.37.

Sophomore Rachel Poling finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:05.54, freshman Zoey Fedele was third in the 100-yard butterfly at 58.10, and senior Ashton Klopp was third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.95.

The Oilers 200-yard freestyle relay team of junior Kristina Coleman, freshman Gracie Glaser, freshman Cecilia Langle, and Poling also secured a third place finish at 1:39.35.

The championship will conclude tomorrow.
