Men's Swimming & Diving Wins 4th Straight Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship on April 2 in Canton, Ohio. The men won their fourth straight conference title with 1,525 points while the women finished as the runner-up with 1,464 points.

Sophomore Tim Stollings capped an incredible meet by winning the 200-yard butterfly with a meet record time of 1:46.33 while also teaming with freshman Daniel Garcia, senior Nathan Bourne, and freshman Dags Bregis to win the 400-yard freestyle at 3:01.00, which established meet, school and G-MAC records. For his efforts, Stollings earned G-MAC Athlete of the Meet accolades after capturing gold in five events.

Garcia also took home some hardware as he was named the G-MAC Freshman of the Meet after finishing the final day of competition with a win the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:58.92. His time set new school, meet, and G-MAC records. For the meet, Garcia had a hand in four wins.

Bregis won a gold on the final day of competition in the 100-yard freestyle at 46.09 while junior Paul Pavala took home top honors in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:50.46.

Senior Dalton Shevlin won two diving events at the meet and was named the Diver of the Meet while Andrew Makepeace secured Coach of the Year honors after leading the Oilers to the championship win.

On the women's side, sophomore Leah Vander Roest was named the Diver of the Meet after posting a win in the 3-meter dive and a runner-up finish in the 1-meter dive on Friday with 267.50 points.

Freshman Maria Argyropoulou won the 200-yard breaststroke on the final day at 2:21.03 while freshman Zoey Fedele was third in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:09.24.
