Oilers Set Record in 800 Relay

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the first day of competition at the Calvin Winter Invitational on Dec. 2 in Grand Rapids, Mich.

On the men's side, the Oilers 800-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Adam Hornak, sophomore Dags Bregis, sophomore Daniel Garcia, and freshman Angel Margaritov broke a school record after racing to a time of 6:41.85, which was good for third place.

Freshman Rafae Machado Lozano also recorded a top-10 finish by taking seven in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:23.47.

On the women's side, the Oilers 800-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Cecilia Langle, freshman Abbie Kmet, senior Taylor Christensen, and freshman Sydney Jones finished sixth with a time of 7:53.55 while Kmet also took ninth in the 1650-yard freestyle at 18:03.20.

Day two of the event will begin tomorrow at 10am.
