Findlay In Canton for G-MAC / MEC Swimming and Diving Championships

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams are in Canton, Ohio at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.

Malone University will once again be serving as the host institution for the meet that is scheduled to run from February 16-19.

The Oilers men, ranked 12th in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America, are the favorite according to collegeswimming.com and will be looking to capture its fifth-consecutive conference championship this week while the women, ranked second in the conference, just two points behind Hillsdale, are seeking their first title since 2019 after the Chargers have taken the crown each of the last two years.

Findlay's men have the individual favorite in nearly every event this week and will be headlined by junior Tim Stollings who has taken home eight conference championship victories in his career, has won back-to-back G-MAC/MEC Swimmer of the Year, and is the reigning NCAA DII National Champion in the 100-yard butterfly. Stollings is not the only workhorse on this star-studded roster as freshman Camilo Marrugo (50 free), freshman Angel Margaritov (200 free), senior Paul Pavala (200 back), and sophomore Daniel Garcia (100 & 200 breast and 200 & 400 IM) all join Stollings as individuals with top times in the conference this season that also own NCAA Championship qualifying marks.

On the women's side, the Oilers are neck-and-neck with Hillsdale College in a rivalry that has heated up since both teams joined the G-MAC back in 2017. Standout freshman Macy May will participate in what may be two of the most electric events of the meet this week as she will go toe-to-toe with Hillsdale's Marie Taylor in both the 50 and 100 freestyle races. Taylor holds NCAA qualifying times in both races, but May's times are not far behind making both of those events a must-watch. May is also the favorite in the 50 and 100 butterfly. Sophomore Cecilia Langle is the favorite in both the 200 and 500 free with an NCAA Championship qualifying time in each while freshman Mille Berg holds the conference's top times in both the 100 and 200 backstroke. Junior Rachel Poling and senior Kristina Coleman will be contenders in both the 50 and 100 breast. Freshman Addi Fleischman had the best performances this season in both the 1m and 3m dive and could pick up important points for the Oilers in those events.
