Swimming Opens Season at Ohio Invitational

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the first day at the Ohio Invite on Oct. 14 in Athens, Ohio. After Day One the men are in second with 313.5 points and the women are in third place with 168 points. 

The Oilers dominated the men's 100-yard freestyle with Angel Margaritov first place with a time of 45.82, Camilo Marrugo finished as the runner up with a time of 45.84 and Dags Bregis took sixth place with a final time of 44.56.  

In the men 200-yard backstroke, Bruce Keener finished sixth overall although first over Bellarmine with a final time of 1:54.95.  

Emily Mears-Bentley finished sixth overall although first over Bellarmine in the women's 100-Yard Freestyle with a final time of 53.20.  

Daniel Garcia added a first-place finish men 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:01.25.  

In the men's 200-yard butterfly Rafael Lozano clocked 1:55.40 placing third overall and first over Bellarmine in the event.Macy May, Faith Marsicek, Macee Reckard and Katie Susi placed eighth in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay with a final time 3:40.78.  

On the men's side, Camilo Marrugo, Tim Stollings, Dags Bregis, Angel Margaritov came together to capture bronze in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:05.13.  

The Oilers will be back in action again on Oct.15 to continue the Ohio Invitational in Athens, Ohio at 10am.
