Oilers Complete Day Two of Ohio Invitational

The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the second day at the Ohio Invite on Oct. 15 in Athens, Ohio. The men are currently in second with 1055.5 points and the women are in third place with 526 points. 

In the first event of the day, Emily Mears-Bentley got fourth place overall, first against Wingate, with a final time of  57.95 in the women's 100-yard butterfly.  

During the men's 100-yard butterfly Camilo Marrugo took first place with a time of 49.18, second place went to Tim Stollings with a time of 50.15, and ninth, tenth and eleventh places went to Aidan Shue (51.97), Dags Bregis (52.30) and Zeineldin Kawas (52.56), consecutively.  

The Oilers took two of the top three places in the men's 400-yard IM. Daniel Garcia placed first with a time of 4:02.88. Matteo Filippi snagged second placed with a final time of 4:07.12.  

Emily Mears-Bentley placed fifth with a final time of 1:55.56 women's 200-yard freestyle. On the men's side of the same event, third place overall and first place over Bellarmine went to Angel Margaritov 1:41.80.  

In the men's 100-yard breaststroke first place Daniel Garcia (55.61), and the Oilers secured ninth and tenth place with times of 1:01.71 and 1:01.72 by Brandon Moran and Aiden Shue.   

During the women's 100-yard backstroke Sasha Melnyk took fifth place with a time of 58.84.   

In the men's 100-yard backstroke Tim Stollings received his second bronze of the day with a time of 50.47. Bruce Keener took fourth place with a time of 51.66 and sixth place went to Camilo Marrugo with a time of 53.08.  

The women's 200-yard medley relay team composed of Sasha Melnyk, Katie Susi, Emily Mears-Bentley, Sydney Jones secured fifth place with a time of 1:48.88.  

The Oiler's relay teams made their presence known during the 200-yard medley relay. First place went to the team composed of Tim Stollings, Daniel Garcia, Camilo Marrugo, Dags Bregis, with a final time of 1:30.46. Bruce Keener,  Luca Chiandussi, Jaden Humphrey, Angel Margaritov took fifth place with a time of 1:34.59. Seventh place was secured by Tyler Thomas, Brandon Moran, Zeineldin Kawas, Aidan Shue with a time of 1:38.11 and eighth place by Joe Kroeger, Marko Priednieks, Adam Hornak, Alexander Bouhlel with a time of 1:39.06.  

The Oilers will be back in action again on Oct.22 as they welcome Saginaw Valley State to Sink Natorium at 1pm.
