Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming & diving teams hosted John Carroll University for a dual meet on Saturday, Dec. 17 in the Sink Natatorium. Findlay's men defeated John Carroll, which is ranked 20th in the country in NCAA Division III, by a score of 535.3-507.5 while the Oilers' women defeated the Blue Streaks 479.5-465.9.

Quotes from the Coach Andrew Makepeace

We had a great cap to our fall competition schedule bringing the Blue Streaks to The Sink today. They have a championship pedigree in the OAC (Ohio Athletic Conference) and had great success last year at the NCAA Division National Championship. We had this event cirlced on our calendar knowing it would be a tough test. Our squad responded after a couple challenging weeks of training after a historic Calvin Winter Invite.

Our ladies stepped up big across the board. Abbie Kmet continued her great year by setting the tone in the 1000 free while Macy May and Sasha Melnyk dominated in the butterfly and backstroke and Troie Grubbs stepped up in the sprint free events. This all coincided with our Senior Day where we celebrated our four graduating ladies. Having those four in the mix for their respective events was a nice sendoff. Taylor Christiensen, Rachel Poling, Gracie Glaser, and Cynthia Napier will be sorely missed for a variety of reasons next year.

The men faced a daunting challenge as JCU is a top-20 program in their division. Despite missing some key performers today, the guys were not deterred. Camilo Marrugo and Dags Bregis had season-bests that helped pave the way to victory. We had a variety of people step up in big ways including graduating member Alex Bouhlel in his final day in The Sink which was very special. We got to see Kaden Heyne soaring on the boards in his first diving competition after injury. I cannot wait to see what the turn of the year presents for us as something special continues to brew here at UF.
