Findlay, Ohio - After serving as the head men's and women's swimming and diving coach for the past 11 years, Andrew Makepeace has resigned his position and will be moving into a new role as the head swimming and diving coach at Augustana University, a Division II school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Over the past 11 years, Makepeace, who was hired in March of 2012, has built the Oilers swimming and diving program into one of the best in the country, routinely collecting hardware at the end of each of those seasons. At the helm, the Minnesota native led Findlay to nine conference championships, six on the men's side and three on the women's. He was named Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Coach of the Year eight times.

"We are immensely grateful for the dedication and leadership that Coach Andrew Makepeace brought to the University of Findlay's men's and women's swimming and diving program for over a decade", said Director of Athletics Jim Givens. "His unwavering commitment to the success and growth of our student-athletes is a testament to his character and passion for the sport. He took a struggling program and turned it into one of the best in Division II and for that, and much more, we are grateful. We wish he, his wife Bree, and their two children all the best in their future endeavors."

Under his leadership, the Oilers have rewritten the record books as his swimmers hold 42 program-bests. He has guided his athletes to 122 all-American awards including 49 first-team accolades. In 2021, Findlay recorded its' first individual national champion when Tim Stollings took gold in the 100 butterfly and this past season, Daniel Garcia earned top spot in the 200 breaststroke, giving Makepeace a pair of individual national champions.

Aside from the individual accolades, Findlay's men have finished in the top-ten at the national championship meet in each of the previous two seasons, taking ninth in 2021-22 and seventh in 2022-23. The women have also seen great success, finishing 18th in the country in 2016 and this past season, ending the year at 23rd in the country.
