Oilers Host Northwest Ohio Invitational

The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams hosted the Northwest Ohio Invitational on Friday, Jan. 15th in the Malcolm Athletic Center.

Women

Senior Lydia Guagenti met the NCAA provisional in the high jump after she cleared 5'07.75" to earn second place.  Guagenti also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 17'02.75" and sophomore Milani Glass jumped 17'00.00" in the long jump.

Glass also received fourth place in the triple jump after leaping 34'00.00".

Senior Samantha Grippe met the NCAA provisional in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:16.92 to finish second.

In the 300 meter dash, senior Maud Sanmiquel finished in 42.29 to earn first place and freshman Madison Stechshulte earned third with a time of 43.54.

Sophomore Laura Hernandez took second place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.66. 

In the 60 meter hurdles, Sanmiquel (9.02) finished third, Glass (9.04) finished fourth, and Guagenti (9.47) finished seventh.

Sanmiquel, Hernandez, Glass, and Stechshulte earned fourth place in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:08.41.

In the mile run, sophomore Taylor Bolinger finished sixth after crossing the finish line at the 5:23.14 mark. 

Junior Torie Allgire earned fifth place in the pole vault after clearing 9'10.00" and sophomore Andrea Lohr finished sixth with a clearance of 9'04.25."

Throws

In the shot put, two Oilers met the NCAA provisional.  Sophomore Alex DeVincentis finished second with a toss of 48'08.25" and freshman Holly Averesch finished third with a heave of 45'00.50".

The weight throw also featured two Oilers meeting the NCAA provisional.  Junior Erica King took home first place with a throw of 60'03.25" and DeVincentis finished fourth with a 57'03.75" throw.

The women finished second out of eleven teams with 121 points.

Men

The long jump featured junior Alexander Zolotoglavyy and sophomore Michael Bruce meeting the NCAA provisional.  Zolotoglavyy earned second (23'11.00"), Bruce earned third (23'10.75"), and sophomore Trey Everett earned fourth (22'08.00").

Everett also won the high jump after soaring 6'07.00".

Freshman George Effah won the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.57 and junior Maliik Briggs earned fourth after crossing the line at 50.57.

Sophomore Sergi Torres took the title of the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.69.

Sophomore Matias Trampe-Kindt received fifth in the 3000 meter run with an 8:50.01.

In the 60 meter dash, freshman Jaye Williams earned sixth with a time of 7.06.

Junior Derek Collins finished second in the 300 meter dash with a time of 36.09 and freshman Zach Jellison finished sixth with a time of 38.01.

Senior Derek Spindler earned fourth place in the pole vault by clearing 14'11.00".

The 4x400 meter relay team consisted of Briggs, Collins, Torres, and Effah earned second place after completing the race at 3:21.33.

Throws

Junior Ben Hahler met the NCAA provisional in the shot put after a toss of 56'06.50" to finish third and he also met the NCAA provisional in the weight throw with a heave of 57'05.50" to finish third. 

Freshman Austin Combs also met the NCAA provisional in the weight throw with a throw of 57'00.25" to earn fourth.

Junior Mitch Adkins placed sixth in the weight throw after a 52'07.50" toss.

The men finished second out of eleven teams with 108.50 points.

The Oilers will return to action in Tiffin, Ohio as they compete in the Tiffin Dragon Open on Saturday, Jan. 23.
