14 Athletes Qualify for NCAA National Championship Meet

Findlay, OH – On Tuesday, May 17, the NCAA released the names of the athletes who have earned the right to participate in the Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championship Meet. The University of Findlay is well represented as ten female and four male athletes have been named and will represent the Orange and Black in Bradenton, Florida on May 26-28.

Alex DeVincentis – Shot Put (49'10.5") | Discus (166'11")

Samantha Grippe – 800 Meter Run (2:10.26)

Lydia Guagenti – High Jump (5'8.75) | Heptathlon (5,135)

Laura Hernandez – 4x400 Meter Relay (3:43.04)

Erica King – Hammer Throw (200'01")

On the women's side, the team will be led by senior Lydia Guagenti. Guagenti was recently named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Field Athlete of the Year and the GLIAC Meet High Point Winner for her performance at the championship event. She won conference titles in both the high jump and heptathlon. She was also named an All-American last year during the outdoor season in the high jump.

Senior Maud Sanmiquel will be busy at the event as she is scheduled to compete in four events. She recently won a GLIAC championship in the 400-meter hurdles and was an All-American last year in the event.

Junior Erica King will look to earn All-American honors in the hammer throw for the second conseuctive outdoor season and is coming off of a GLIAC championship in the event while junior Alex DeVincentis will look to continue her solid performance in the discus as she too won a conference title for the Oilers in that event.

The men's team will be led by senior Michael Bruce who earned All-American accolades in both the long jump and triple jump last season for Findlay. He is coming off of a GLIAC championship in the triple jump and was voted the GLIAC Field Athlete of the Year during the outdoor campaign.

Junior Ben Hahler is also back and looking to earn All-American honors for the second straight season in the shot put.
