Hahler, Etsy Lead Oilers at Championship
The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship on May 5 in Hillsdale, Mich. The men finished second with 128 points while the women took third with 111 points.
On the men's side, Martin Etsey took home Freshman of the Meet honors after posting a first place finish in the triple jump with a provisional leap of 15.16m.
George Effah won the 400-meter dash with a G-MAC record-breaking time of 47.84, which was a NCAA Division II provisional mark, and Dequan Lovell won the shot put with a G-MAC record of 51.27 meters. His toss also reached provisional status.
Lovell also took second in the discus with a provisional heave of 51.27 meters while Javian Martin was fourth in the discus at 47.59 meters and fifth in the shot put at 15.33 meters. Both distances met provisional requirements.
Daniel Agbola finished third in the 800-meter run at 1:53.10 and teamed with Effah, Kurt Grieger and Gavin Stepansky to take the bronze in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.47.
Trey Everett finished fourth in the triple jump at 13.66 meters while Zach Jellison was fourth in the 100-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 11.12.
On the women's side, Hannah Hahler was named the G-MAC Field Athlete of the Meet. Hahler won the shot put with a G-MAC record toss of 15.08 meters, which met the provisional standard. She also took runner-up honors in the discus throw with a toss of 43.81 meters.
Alex DeVincentis won the discus with a G-MAC record and provisional qualifying toss of 45.45 meters and finished second in the shot put with a provisional heave of 14.75 meters.
Holly Averesch took third in the discus at 41.62 meters and placed fourth in the shot put with a provisional throw of 13.94 meters.
Milani Glass won the 100-meter hurdles with a provisional and G-MAC record-breaking time of 13.98 and finished fourth in the 100-meter dash at 12.12. She also teamed with Semoy Hemmings, Jenna Shipman and Aubreah Manns to finish third in the 4x100-meter relay at 48.23. The same team also took fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:02.79.
Hemmings also captured gold for the Oilers, winning the 400-meter dash with a provisional and G-MAC record-breaking time of 55.09.
