Henry Named G-MAC Male Athlete of the Year

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) has selected University of Findlay track and field star Eldred Henry as their 2018-19 Male Athlete of the Year.

Henry had a remarkable season for the Oilers track and field team and never lost a shot put competition. Henry also broke NCAA Division II shot put records during both the indoor and outdoor seasons with marks of 20.61 meters and 21.47 meters, respectively.

During the indoor season, Henry was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Field Athlete of the Year after winning the national championship in the shot put. He also won a conference title in the event to earn first team all-league honors and was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Field Athlete of the Year. Henry, who holds the conference record in the indoor shot put, also has five of the top six throws all-time in the G-MAC.

In outdoor competition, Henry won the national title in the shot put and also earned All-American honors in the discus. He was selected as the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Field Athlete of the Year and also captured G-MAC Field Athlete of the Year accolades. Henry was also named first team all-conference as well after winning conference titles in the shot put and discus. In the shot put, Henry holds the top four throws all-time within the league in the shot put and the fifth-best throw in the discus.
