Oilers Begin Action at National Open Meet

University Park, Pa. - The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field team competed in day one of the national open at Penn State University on Friday, January 31.

Women

In the pole vault, the Oilers had three ladies finish tied for first, including freshman Lindsay Kluesener, sophomore Meadow Cromer, and freshman Morgan England. They all reached the heights of 3.77m, which is high enough to reach the provisional mark. 

Senior Hannah Hahler participated in the weight throw and got 12th place, launching a throw of 16.67m. 

Men

In the weight throwing event, junior Sterling Mungro got eighth place with a long throw of 19.30m, which gets him to the provisional mark.

Junior Martin Etsey took third place in the triple jump, as he extended out to 15.30m. 

Sophomores Ryan Stevens and Nathan Bedel did well in the pole vault, as Stevens tied for second place with a high of 4.91m, and Bedel tied for fifth place, reaching the heights of 4.61m. 

The Oilers will wrap up competition at the national open tomorrow.
