Oilers Sending 5 to National Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams will be sending five athletes to the 2020 NCAA Division II National Championship on March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala.

On the men's side, sophomore Xavier Marable is heading to the championship to compete in the 400-meter dash while junior Sterling Mungro has qualified in the shot put and weight throw. Junior Martin Etsey is also heading to the championship event after being selected to compete in the triple jump.

Marable earned an All-American award last season for the Oilers in the 400-meter dash and was recently named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Athlete of the Meet after having a hand in three first place finishes at the league championship.

Mungro will be making his first appearance at the championship for the Oilers while Etsey will look to build upon his conference title in the triple jump.

On the women's side, senior Hannah Hahler will compete in the shot put while freshman Lindsey Kluesener is headed to the championship to take part in the pole vault.

Hahler has been solid during her career in the shot put and was an All-American last year in the event during her outdoor season while Kluesener, who won a conference title in the pole vault, will be making her first trip to the national championship.
