Makin and Fisher Earn Track and Field Athletes of the Week

Findlay, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced their Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The Oilers men swept the awards with junior Gabe Makin winning Field Athlete of the Week and freshman Noah Fisher winning Track Athlete of the Week. Both competed at the Youngstown State Invitational last Friday, Jan. 15.

Makin took second in the pole vault at Youngstown State, reaching a height of 4.83m (15'10"), good enough for an NCAA provisional mark and tied for the fifth-best vault in Division II this season. That height is also the best in the G-MAC so far this year.

Freshman Noah Fisher made a splash in just his second race ever appearance the Oilers, winning the 5000m run at Youngstown State with a time of 14:52.13. That time is 11th all-time in conference history and established a new University of Findlay school record. While it was not an NCAA provisional time, it is the third-fastest time in the country this year and is one of just five sub-15 minute 5k's in Division II thus far.
