Oilers Win Triangular Meet at Home

The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams wrapped up a meet against Walsh University and Malone University on Jan. 30 inside the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex. The women won the meet with 149.50 points while the men claimed first place with 153 points.

On the women's side, junior Gabrielle Lawrence broke a school record in the 5,000-meter run after crossing the finish line in 17:31.96. Her time was good enough to reach the NCAA Division II provisional in the event.

Junior Brooke Mangas also secured a provisional mark for the Oilers in high jump as she finished first with a mark of 5'05.75 while sophomore Paige Emnett won the shot put with a provisional toss of 46'06.25.

Senior Jenna Shipman scored a pair of victories for Findlay in the 200-meter dash (26.28) and 400-meter dash (59.06) while Madison Myers won the long jump (18'03.25) and junior Hayley Robinett was first in the 800-meter run (2:23.48).

Sophomore Brynlee Hanneman was victorious in the weight throw after a heave of 49'04.25 while three Findlay pole vaulters reached the provisional mark as well. Sophomore Morgan England, sophomore Lindsey Kluesner, and junior Meadow Cromer all reached a height of 12'06.25 to take 2-4 in the standings during the event.

Freshman Hailey Wilson also scored a first place finish for Findlay, winning the mile in 5:27.46.

On the men's side, junior Sterling Mungro posted a pair of first place finishes in the shot put and weight throw. He won the shot with a mark of 52'08.25 and claimed the top spot in the weight throw with a NCAA Division II provisional toss of 66'09.25. Junior Max Prenger took home runner-up honors in both events as he recorded a mark of 50'10.00 in the shot and 57'02.00 in the weight.

Freshman Noah Fisher came away with a first place finish in the 3,000-meter run after racing to a school record-breaking time of 8:35.42 while freshman Gabriel Foster secured a pair of first place finishes after winning the mile (4:23.11) and 800-meter run (1:58.24).

Freshman Alex Mutchler won the pole vault with a provisional mark of 15'08.50 while senior Gabe Makin finished second with the same provisional height. Senior Emanuel Durden also came away with a first place finish in the high jump at 6'05.00 while sophomore Cameron Stine was second in the same event with the same height reached.

Junior Lane Kolb and junior Xavier Marable scored first place finishes for Findlay as well. Kolb won the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.79 while Marable was first in the 200-meter dash at 22.21.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Feb. 5-6 at the Dragon Invitational in Tiffin, Ohio.
