Men's Track & Field Claim G-MAC Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams wrapped up the second and final day of the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship on Feb. 27 in Cedarville, Ohio. The men won the conference title with 157 points while the women finished as the runner-up with 148 points.

On the men's side, senior Martin Etsey took home a first place finish in the triple jump with a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of 15.28 while junior Xavier Marable won the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.79. For his performance at the eveny, Etsey was named the 2021 G-MAC Field Athlete of the Meet.

Senior Emanuel Durden took home a conference championship in the high jump after reaching a height of 1.97 meters while sophomore Cameron Stine and freshman Aaron Cooper tied for second in the event with the same mark.

Sophomore Josh Verhoff won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.86 while Marable (22.11) and junior Ethan Pensante (22.39) finished third and fifth, respectively.

Sophomore Keandre Marlow took home the gold in the heptathlon with 4,768 points while freshman Gabriel Foster finished as the runner-up in the mile at 4:26.33.

Junior Sterling Mungro posted a fourth place finish in the shot put with a provisional toss of 17.06 meters while senior Gabe Makin was fourth in the pole vault with a provisional mark of 4.86 meters.

On the women's side, junior Hayley Robinett claimed a conference title in the 800-meter run after crossing the finish line in 2:15.56 while the Oilers 4x400-meter relay team consisting of senior Jenna Shipman, freshman Hannah Rybicki, sophomore Bethany Smith, and freshman Cassidy Baran finished as the runner-up with a time of 2:39.50.

Junior Gabrielle Lawrence took home a third place finish in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:58.28 while Smith added a third place finish in the 400-meter dash at 58.62.

Sophomore Paige Emnett was third in the shot put with a provisional toss of 13.91 meters while sophomore Simone Green took third place in the triple jump at 11.46 meters.

Junior Brooke Mangas added a fourth place finish in the high jump at 1.65 meters and freshman Jordan Taylor was fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.78.
