Oilers Sending 7 to National Championship

A total of seven student-athletes from The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams are headed to the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship, which will be held on Mar. 11-13 in Birmingham, Ala.

The men's team will be sending four athletes and will be led by junior Sterling Mungro, who is seeded second with a mark of 21.74 meters in the weight throw. Mungro won a conference title in the event this season and was named All-American in the event last year.

Junior Xavier Marable will head to the championship to compete in the 400-meter dash. He won a conference title in the event and is currently seeded fourth with a converted time of 47.48. During his career, Marable has been named All-American in the event twice.

Senior Martin Etsey, who was named the 2021 G-MAC Field Athlete of the Meet, will head to the championship to compete in the triple jump. He was an All-American in the event last season and picked up a conference title this year. He enters the triple jump competition seeded fifth at 15.28 meters.

Sophomore Josh Verhoff will round out the men's competitors as he will be seeded ninth with a converted time of 21.48 in the 200-meter dash. Verhoff won a conference title for Findlay in the event this season.

The women's team will be led by sophomore Morgan England, who is seeded fourth in the pole vault. England won a conference title in the event this year and is the Oilers school record holder in the pole vault.

Sophomore Lindsey Kluesener will also compete for Findlay in the pole vault and will be seeded ninth with a mark of 4.01 meters. She earned All-American honors in the event last year.

Senior Brooke Mangas is also heading to the championship where she will compete in the high jump. Mangas is seeded seventh with a mark of 1.73 meters.
