Oilers Wrap Up Flames & Hillsdale Invitationals

The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the Flames Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn. and the Hillsdale Invitational on April 10.

On the women's side, junior Gabrielle Lawrence took sixth in the 10,000-meter run at the Flames Invitational with a school record-breaking time of 36:10.42. The time was also good enough for NCAA Division II provisional status.

At the Hillsdale Invitational, the Oilers scored seven first place finishes including senior Savannah Amato in the pole vault, who set a new school record with a NCAA Division II automatic qualifying height of 13'05.25 while sophomore Morgan England finished fourth in the event with a provisional qualifying mark of 12'01.50.

Sophomore Simone Green won the long jump with a provisional leap of 19'00.75 while sophomore Paige Emnett scored a first place finish in the shot put with a provisional heave of 45'10.00.

Junior Brooke Mangas finished first in the high jump at 5'04.25, junior Hayley Robinett was first in the 800-meter run at 2:18.26, and sophomore Bethany Smith was first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.84.

Green also took second in the triple jump with a mark of 37'10.00 while freshman Madison Myers was second in the long jump at 17'10.75.

The Oilers 4x400-meter relay team of Smith, senior Jenna Shipman, Robinett, and senior Aubreah Manns won their event with a time of 3:45.41 while Findlay's 4x10-meter relay squad of Shipman, junior Michaela Butler, sophomore Rylee Sybert, and freshman Jordan Taylor took runner-up honors at 47.86.

Freshman Noah Fisher finished sixth in the 10,000-meter run at the Flames Invitational on the men's side with a school record time of 29:50.87, which reached the provisional, while four Oilers won events at the Hillsdale Invitational.

Junior Sterling Mungro won the hammer throw with a NCAA Division II automatic qualifying heave of 217'06 while senior Austin Combs and freshman Orry Willems finished second and fourth, respectively, in the event. Combs reached a provisional mark of 212'01 while Willems also reached the provisional at 196'08.

Sophomore Cameron Stine won the high jump with a leap of 6'07.00 while senior Emanuel Durden was the runner-up at 6'05.00.

Freshman Gabriel Foster captured gold in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.98 while senior Daniel Agbola was second at 1:57.78.

Senior Gabe Makin took home the top honor in the pole vault at 16'01.75 as well.

Senior Javian Martin was second in the discus at 158'00, junior Lane Kolb was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash at 49.67, and the Oilers 4x400-meter relay team of junior Ethan Pensante, freshman Isaac Webb, Foster, and Kolb took the silver with a time of 3:25.84. Sophomore Keandre Marlow also took home a second place finish in the decathlon with 6,461 points.
