Oilers Wrap Up Competition at Ashland Alumni Open and Gina Relays

Ashland, Ohio - The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field team concluded competition at the Ashland Alumni Open on April 24. 

Women

On Friday, sophomore Paige Emnett placed fourth in the hammer throw with a toss that reached 48.67 meters.

As for Saturday, the Oilers dominated the pole vault event as senior Savannah Amato took gold at 4.03 meters, sophomore Lindsey Kluesener was second at 3.80 meters, and sophomore Morgan England placed fourth at 3.78 meters. All of these heights met the provisional mark for the event.

In the high jump, sophomore Alexa Fries and junior Brooke Mangas tied for silver with a jump of 1.64 meters. Sophomore Brynlee Hanneman added a third place finish for the Oilers in shot put with a long throw of 11.67 meters. And in long jump, sophomore Simone Green and freshman Madison Myers placed third and fourth place, respectively, with jumps of 5.65 meters and 5.60 meters. Green also took silver in the triple jump event at 11.09 meters, while Myers placed fifth at 10.58 meters.

Emnett competed in both the discus and shot put elite, taking third place in both events. Her throw in shot put was far enough to reach the provisional mark, as she launched it 13.92 meters, and her discus throw traveled 44.55 meters. Sophomore Carlee Siefker placed fourth in the javelin throw at 33.60 meters.

Sophomore Bethany Smith placed first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.30 seconds. Senior Jenna Shipman placed third in the event with a time of 58.01 seconds, and junior Hayley Robinett placed fifth with a time of 58.41 seconds. In the 100 meter dash, freshman Jordan Taylor placed third, clocking in at 12.54 seconds. Freshman Kylie Ray had a third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:06.13, and not far behind was sophomore Kenedi Hayden with a time of 1:07.77 for a sixth place finish. Ray also took fifth place in the 100 meter hurdles, clocking in at 15.37 seconds. Sophomore Rylee Sybert took fifth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.43 seconds. 

The 4x400 meter relay team of Smith, senior Aubreah Manns, Robinett, and Shipman finished in first place with a time of 3:57.90.

Men

For the men who competed on Friday, junior Sterling Mungro reached the provisional mark in the hammer throw elite at 65.73 meters, good enough for fifth place. Placing seventh and also reaching the provisional mark in the event was senior Austin Combs, who had a throw of 63.37 meters. In the hammer open, freshman Orry Willems reached the provisional mark while taking fourth place at 56.14 meters.

In competition on Saturday, senior Dequan Lovell placed first in discus with a throw of 47.63 meters. Mungro placed sixth in the event with a throw of 44.21 meters. Along with that, Mungro reached the provisional mark in the shot put elite with a far throw of 16.42 meters, placing him seventh in the event.

The men's 4x100 relay team of junior Ethan Pensante, junior Xavier Marable, sophomore Michael Nichols, and freshman Isaac Webb took the silver with a time of 41.41 seconds. Pensante added a fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash, clocking in at 22.36 seconds. The 4x400 meter relay team of Marable, junior Lane Kolb, Webb, and senior Daniel Agbola finished second in the event with a time of 3:17.68. The Oilers also had a team of freshman Hassan Sesay, Pensante, senior Seth Saylor, and junior Josh Steinbrunner finish in fifth place with a time of 3:32.46. Kolb added a sixth place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.88 seconds. Agbola added a fifth place finish in the 800 meter run, clocking in at 1:55.94 seconds. 

Freshman Alex Mutchler placed second in pole vault with a high of 4.66 meters, while sophomore Jacob Michael placed third in the event at 4.51 meters. Sophomore Cameron Stine added a third place finish for the orange and black in high jump, as he reached the heights of 1.95 meters.

Results

Hillsdale, Ohio - Some of The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field team competed at Hillsdale this weekend in the Gina Relays.

Women

Junior Gabrielle Lawrence broke the school record in the 5000 invite, coming across the finish line with a time of 17:14.01.

Men

Freshman Gabriel Foster finished in 1st place in the 800 meter dash, coming through the finish line in a time of 1:52.61. In the 5000 invite event, freshman Noah Fisher reached the provisional mark in the event while taking third place with a time of 14:30.14. 

The Oilers next contest will take place on Wednesday, May 5 as they will begin competition in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championships.
