Women's Track Wins G-MAC Title

The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship on May 7 in Owensboro, Ky. The women won the event with 208 points while the men finished as the runner-up with 158 points.

On the women's side, Paige Emnett captured Field Athlete of the Meet and Freshman Athlete of the Meet honors after winning both the discus and hammer throw at the event. On the final day of competition, she added a third place finish in the shot put with a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying toss of 14.56 meters.

Junior Michaela Butler picked up a pair of championships on the final day as she won the 100-meter dash with a provisional time of 11.79 and the 200-meter dash at 24.84.

Junior Hayley Robinett captured the gold in the 800-meter after crossing the finish line in 2:12.43 while sophomore Simone Green was victorious in the triple jump with a mark of 11.88 meters.

Sophomore Bethany Smith also picked up a gold by winning the 400-meter dash in 56.30. She also teamed with senior Aubreah Manns, Robinett, and senior Jenna Shipman to finish as the runner-up in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:51.73.

Freshman Kylie Ray posted a second place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.26 while junior Brooke Mangas added a third place finish in the high jump with a provisional leap of 1.68 meters.

On the men's side, senior Austin Combs was named the Co-Field Athlete of the Meet while Noah Fisher captured Freshman of the Meet accolades. Combs won both the discus and hammer throw at the event while Fisher took first in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:40.08 on Friday.

Junior Xavier Marable took home the gold in the 400-meter dash with a provisional time of 47.19 and teamed with junior Lane Kolb, freshman Isaac Webb, and senior Daniel Agbola to finish as the runner-up in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.80.

Senior Martin Etsey took third in the triple jump with a provisional mark of 15.06 meters while junior Sterling Mungro was third in the shot put with a provisional toss of 17.47 meters.
