Oilers Sending 5 to National Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams will be sending five individuals to the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship, which will take place on May 27-29 in Allendale, Mich.

The women's team will be sending three athletes to compete in the pole vault as senior Savannah Amato and juniors Morgan England and Lindsey Kluesener qualified for the event. Amato, who won a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) title in the event, is the Oilers top performer and is seeded fifth with a mark of 4.23 meters. England meanwhile was an All-American in the event during the indoor season and is seeded eighth at 4.13 meters while Kluesener, a two-time indoor All-American, is seeded 12th at 4.06 meters.

On the men's side, senior Austin Combs will be looking for his third career national title and will compete in two events for the Oilers. Combs qualified in the hammer throw and will be seeded second at 70.09 meters and he also made the cut in the discus where he is seeded 11th at 54.31 meters. During his tenure at Findlay, Combs won indoor national titles in the weight throw in 2018 and 2019 and has been a seven-time All-American including twice in the hammer throw.

Junior Sterling Mungro is also headed to the championship to compete in the hammer throw. Mungro, who won a national title during the indoor season in the weight throw, is seeded fifth at 67.99 meters.
