Austin Combs to Compete at Olympic Trials

Findlay, Ohio – University of Findlay track and field standout Austin Combs has earned a chance to compete against the top talent in the country as he has qualified for the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials which will be held in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field, one of the premier track and field venues in the country. Combs will participate in the hammer throw which will be held on the first day of competition, Friday, June 18. His competition starts at 3:05 pm EST.

Combs, a Findlay native, wrapped up his collegiate career this past spring with an NCAA Division II national championship in the hammer throw. It was his third individual national championship and first in the hammer throw. A nine-time all-American for the Oilers, Combs enters the Olympic Trials with the 15th-best distance in the country, a throw of 71.99m (236'2") that won the national title just over two weeks ago. His event will consist of three throws. Should he finish in the top 12, he will earn the chance to compete in the hammer throw finals on June 20th.

"Anytime we can have one of our own compete at the highest level, that is an incredible achievement", said head track and field coach Blaine Maag. "Austin's hard work and dedication to the craft is being rewarded with a chance to compete against the best in the United States. He has earned this opportunity and the Oilers track and field program is lucky to have him."
