Amato and Combs Earn G-MAC Field Athlete of the Week

Findlay, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced its' track and field athletes of the week on Monday, April 25. Findlay senior pole vaulter Savannah Amato has earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season while graduate senior Austin Combs has earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week, his first of the year and the fourth of his career.

Pole vaulter Savannah Amato has been figuratively and literally raising the bar all season long and this past weekend at the Al Owens Classic in Allendale, Michigan was no exception. Amato took first place in the event, setting a new conference and school record in the process. She cleared a height of 4.27m (14'00"), the best jump in Division II this season and the eighth-best jump of all-time in Division II.

Taking on some of the top competition in the state of Ohio, senior Austion Combs took first place in the hammer throw last week at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State University. Combs' best throw was his last, measuring a distance of 65.33m (214'04") which is a top-five throw in the country this season, although Combs already owns the second-best throw in DII. The reigning national champion in the event, Combs certainly looks as though he will be vying for the top spot on the podium again in 2022.
