Oilers Set Records on Day 1 of Findlay Alumni Classic

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field team opened up the 2023 Findlay Alumni Classic on Friday, Jan. 20 in the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Findlay.

Friday saw just eight events take place as the bulk of the meet will take place tomorrow.

  • Noah Fisher (So.) – First in the men's 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:25.44. That time sets a new program record, breaking his own mark by ten seconds. It also sets a new fieldhouse record, breaking the old mark of 14:25.82 set by Brock Weaver of Grand Valley State, a record that had stood since February of 2012.
  • Eliot Cummings (Jr.) – First place in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.47m (24'6"). That distance sets a new program record, breaking the old mark, which was set by Alexander Zolotoglavyy in 2015, by just a half an inch. That jump also meets the NCAA provisional mark and is the fifth-best in the country this season.
  • Trista Fintel (So.) – The reigning Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week won the weight throw as her sixth and final attempt soared 18.15m (59'7"). That is an NCAA provisional and is the 13th-best throw in D2 this season.
  • Simone Green (Jr.) – First place in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.70m (18.8.5"). Distance is good for an NCAA D2 provisional mark.
  •  Max Prenger (Jr.) – Won the men's weight throw with a toss of 18.66m (61'3"). The throw met the NCAA D2 provisional mark.
  • Jordan Taylor (So.) – Won the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.61.
  • Sherron Jones (Fr.) – Won the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.54.
