Findlay Women Win G-MAC Title | Men Take Second

Ashland, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's track & field team is headed home with some hardware after securing the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Friday, May 5. The Oilers men also had a good showing, securing a runner-up finish. 

With the victory, the Oilers women have now won back-to-back outdoor conference titles and have won each of the previous four track & field championships between both outdoor and indoor. 

Friday's Top Results 

Women 

In triple jump, junior standout Simone Green took first place, giving her back-to-back G-MAC outdoor titles in that event. Her season-best effort of 12.25m (40'2.25") came on her final jump. Sophomores Jessica Hoban and Madison Myers took fifth and sixth, respectively, with jumps of 11.23m (36'10.25") and 11.01m (36'1.5"). 

Sophomore Trista Fintel and junior Paige Emnett have become regulars on the podium, and that continued Friday. Fintel took second in the discus throw, using a 46.40m (152'3") effort on her final throw. Emnett's toss of 43.99m (144'4") was good for third.  

Earning runner-up in the 800m run was senior Hayley Robinett who had a time of 2:10.73. Sophomore Bailey Chenevey had a time of 2:18.24 in that event, as well. 

On the track, Findlay's 4x100 meter relay team took second. Nicole Fishpaw, Taylor Ivory, Kylie Ray, and Jordan Taylor clocked a time of 46.13 to earn silver. Ivory also competed in the 400m dash, taking fourth with a 56.41. Senior Bethany Smith took fifth in that event with a 56.67. 

Jordan Taylor later took fourth in the 100m dash with at time of 12.03 while Fishpaw took seventh with a 12.21. That duo also finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 200m dash. Taylor had a 24.53 while Fishpaw finished in 24.63. 

Taking third in the high jump was senior Alexa Fries who would clear a height of 1.62m (5'3.75"). Tying for eighth in the event were three Oilers as sophomore Maddie Alexander sophomore Kassandra Stine, and freshman Ashley Sigmon all cleared 1.57m (5'1.75"). 

Kylie Ray, Ivory, Robinett, and Smith took third in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:49.55. 

In the 100m hurdles, sophomore Kylie Ray took third, clocking a 14.42. She also participated in the 400m hurdles, earning a second place finish with a 1:00.47. 

Earning fourth in the 5000m run was senior Gabrielle Lawrence who finished in a time of 17:29.13. 

Sophomore Reilly Cozette was a fifth-place finisher in the 1500m run, finishing in 4:35.64,a personal record. 

Men 

Continuing their success in the sand, Findlay's men took the top two spots in the triple jump. Sophomore Omari Welch-Guytan secured the event title as his last attempt measured 14.51m (47'7.25"), a new personal record. That effort tied teammate junior Eliot Cummings who also went 14.51m, but Welch-Guytan earned the title by tie breaker as his next-best mark bested Cummings'. Sophomore Gabe Clement, who won the decathlon yesterday, secured points, taking seventh with a distance of 13.14m (43'1.25"). 

Kemari Robinson, Hassan Sessay, Ethan Pensante, and Josh Verhoff teammed up to win the 4x100 meter relay, recording a time of 40.60, Findlay's fastest time this season in the event. Verhoff also took part in the 100m dash, earning third with a 10.36. Robinson took eighth in that event. 

In the 200m dash, it was Verhoff again making waves as he finished in a time of 20.92, winning his first 200m outdoor title and third overall. 

Senior Xavier Marable is now an eight-time G-MAC champion in the 400m, indoor and outdoor combined, as he took gold with a time of 47.25. 

Junior standout Noah Fisher was runner-up in the 5000m run, finishing 15 seconds behind Walsh's Zach Kreft to earn silver. Fisher finished in a time of 14:28.09.  

In discus throw, senior Max Prenger was the runner-up with a personal record of 52.14m (171'1"), the 18th best throw in the country this season. Junior Hunter Tresnan-Rieghard finished the event in sixth with a 49.60m (162'9"). 

Freshman Conner Douglass took bronze in the pole vault, clearing 4.86m (15'11.25"). 

Another bronze came from junior Jordan Foster who had a time of 3:48.65 in the men's 1500m run, a personal best. Senior Nick DeHaven scored as well, taking eighth with a 3:56.32. 

Freshman Nick Rice had a time of 52.85 in the 400m hurdles to earn fourth.
