Oilers Hold Off Yellow Jackets, Win 72-66

The University of Findlay women's basketball team came away with a 72-66 win over Cedarville University on Monday, December 19 in Cedarville, Ohio.  The non-conference victory gives the Oilers a 7-3 record on the season.

Junior forward Kayla Brown continued her outstanding play with a season-high 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting.  She finished 2-of-3 from the three point line and also added five steals and four rebounds in the victory.

Red-shirt freshman forward Carlay Stahl came off the bench to contribute a career-high 15 points, hitting 7-of-9 shots from the free throw line.

Sophomore guard Kaleigh Kenny chipped in eight points while senior guard Clare Aubry and red-shirt sophomore guard Ashley Andrews contributed seven points apiece.

As a team, the Oilers shot 46.8 percent (22-of-47) from the floor and held the Yellow Jackets to a mere 35.9 percent (23-of-64) shooting clip.

Cedarville pounded the Oilers on the boards, holding a 45-28 advantage, but the Oilers forced 24 turnovers and hit 23-of-29 (79.3%) of their shots from the free throw line.

Cedarville's Kayla Jenerette led all scorers with 21 points as she hit 7-of-13 shots from the field.

The Oilers will be back in action again on December 29 when they host the Holiday Tournament.  Northwood University and Malone University will kick the tournament off at 3:30 pm followed by the Oilers game against the University of Missouri S&T at 5:30 pm in Croy Gymnasium.
