Oilers Hold On For 76-70 Win Over Chargers

The University of Findlay women's basketball team won their fourth straight game as they defeated Hillsdale College by a score of 76-70 on Saturday, Feb. 2 in Hillsdale, Mich.  The victory gives the Oilers a 15-4 record on the year with a 12-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers shot 41 percent (25-of-61) from the floor and grabbed 22 offensive rebounds in the win.  They held a 39-28 advantage on the boards in the game and also forced 21 turnovers, which allowed the Oilers to rack up 13 steals.

Senior forward Kayla Brown once again led the way for the Oilers with 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting.  She connected on 4-of-9 attempts from three point range and also chipped in four rebounds and a pair of steals.

Senior forward Tai Dotson also had a standout game for Findlay as she contributed nine points and nine rebounds. 

Junior guard Ashley Andrews recorded nine points and four steals while junior guard Karli Beasley came off the bench to give the Oilers a spark with eight points, hitting 2-of-5 attempts from behind the three point line.

The Chargers, who shot 52.2 percent (24-of-46) from the field, drilled ten three pointers in the game and were led by Kelsey Cromer's 20 points.

Kadie Lowery added 18 points while Megan Fogt had 12 points and ten boards.

The Oilers will return to the hardwood again on Feb. 7 at Ohio Dominican University.  The contest is scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m.
