Brown Named 1st Team All-Region by Daktronics

Senior forward Kayla Brown was named first team all-Midwest Region on Thursday, March 14.  Brown is the first Oilers player to earn first team all-region at the NCAA Division II level.

Brown, who was named first team all-conference on March 8, is averaging 17.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.7 assists per game this season.  She is also shooting 51.6 percent from the floor, 37.1 percent from behind the three point line and 78.4 percent from the charity stripe.

A native of Mt. Blanchard, Ohio, Brown earned a spot on the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) all-tournament team this year and has led the #18 Oilers to a 24-5 record.  The Oilers 24 wins are the most in program history at the NCAA Division II level.

Brown ranks eighth all-time at Findlay with 1,265 points.  She also ranks fifth all-time with 137 made three pointers and sixth all-time with 197 steals.

As a senior, Brown has scored 511 total points, the third best single season total in the history of the program.  She has also made 63 three pointers and is six shy of breaking the school record for most made triples in a season.

Ashland's Kari Daugherty was named the player of the year and also earned a spot on the first team with teammate Daiva Gerbec.  Indianapolis' Katy McIntosh and Kristin Turner were also selected as first team all-region performers.

Brown and the Oilers will face Wayne State University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament tomorrow in Ashland, Ohio.  The game is scheduled to tip at 12 p.m.
