Multiple Career-Highs Fuel Oilers Victory

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's basketball team used multiple career performances to get back on the winning track with a 79-60 victory over the Hillsdale College Chargers on Saturday, Jan. 9. The victory gives the Oilers an 11-3 record on the season with a 6-2 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

Findlay used hot shooting in the second half of the game, especially the fourth quarter, to pull away from Hillsdale in a game that featured nine lead changes. After three quarters of play, the Orange and Black only led by three points (50-47), but scored 29 points in the fourth frame to put the game away.

Sophomore Lynsey Englebrecht gave the Oilers a stellar performance as she scored a career-high 21 points while making a career-high five three point shots. Overall, Englebrecht shot 8-of-10 from the floor including 5-of-6 from deep and did so in just 18 minutes of action.

Junior Karli Bonar put together another high-scoring game with her 17 points on the strength of five threes while senior Margaret Wuebker was the third leading scorer with eight points. Wuebker tied a career high in rebounds with 11 and set a new career mark with four blocks.

Sophomore Haley Horstman had a stat-stuffer in her 30 minutes of action. Horstman had eight points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. Her rebounds and assists both set new career-highs.

The Oilers are back on the floor on Thursday, Jan. 14 when they host Ohio Dominican in a GLIAC matchup set to begin at 5:30pm.
