Kin Career-High Not Enough as Oilers Fall in Urbana

Urbana, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's basketball team dropped a non-conference affair to the Urbana Blue Knights on Tuesday, Dec. 17 by a score of 97-82. With the loss, the Oilers fall to 5-6 on the year while Urbana improves to 7-5.

Findlay never led in a contest that saw the Blue Knights jump out to a 10-0 lead through the first three minutes of action. That lead for Urbana reached as much as 17 points, two minutes into a fourth quarter where the home team scored 32 points.

The Oilers shot the ball fairly well, making 29-of-69 (.420) from the floor including 5-of-15 (.333) from deep. Urbana hit on 31-of-69 (.449) shots in the game and made eight triples.

The Blue Knights held a big advantage at the charity stripe where they took 41 attempts, making 27. Findlay shot 27 free throws and connected on 19.

Sophomore Sydney Kin was the bright spot for the Oilers as she poured in a career-high 33 points, the first time a Findlay player scored 30 in a game since Anna Hintz scored 31 against Cedarville two years ago. Kin made 14-of-16 from the floor including going 1-of-1 from deep. She also had nine rebounds in the contest.

Also coming off the bench and reaching double-figures was junior Madison Stolly. Stolly chipped in 15 points on the strength of an 8-for-8 performance from the charity stripe.

Sophomore Paige Bellman finished with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. It is Bellman's fourth double-double of the season.

Urbana was led by Tyra James who scored 21 points in the game. Sylvia Hudson chipped in 19 points. Both players had nine boards.

Findlay heads south for their next set of games as they will take on Barry University and Nova Southeastern University in the Sunshine State on Dec. 20 and 21.
