Findlay Heads to Painesville to Battle the Storm

Sophomore Sydney Kin is the reigning conference Player of the Week and has been playing some of the best basketball of her career in the past few weeks. That effort has led the Oilers to a 10-5 mark in the G-MAC with just three games remaining. The first of those three is a game in Painesville this Saturday, Feb. 22 when Findlay will take on the Lake Erie Storm. That game will tip off at 1:00 pm.

Earlier this year, Findlay welcomed the Storm into Croy and, despite trailing by five through the first quarter, the Oilers picked up an 82-74 win.

Sydney Kin led the team with 21 points while Amber Schweiger scored 19, which at the time was a career-high. Lauren Ruth scored 14 points while making three shots from deep.

Findlay (14-11, 10-5 G-MAC)

Despite two wins this past weekend and three consecutive wins overall, the Oilers dropped a spot in the point standings and now are in fifth which would mean a road trip in the G-MAC Quarterfinals if the tournament started today.

Sophomore Sydney Kin, the reigning G-MAC Player of the Week, has been outstanding since the middle of December when she dropped 33 points against Urbana. Since then, Kin is averaging more than 19 points per game and has scored at least 20 points in four of her previous five games. Kin leads the team with 8.2 rebounds per game.

Fellow sophomore Amber Schweiger is scoring in double-figures on the season, as well, at ten points per game. She also leads the team with 4.1 assists per contest and is tied for the team lead with two steals per game.

Rounding out the Oilers' top four scorers are another pair of sophomores in Bridget Landin and Paige Bellman who are scoring 9.8 and 9.0 ppg, respectively. Landin is collecting 7.6 rebounds per game while Bellman gets 7.0.
