Oilers Beat Hillsdale 88-77

The University of Findlay women's basketball team came away with an 88-77 win over Hillsdale College on Dec. 3 inside the Croy Physical Education Center in their first game of the 2020-21 season.

The Oilers were led by junior forward Bridget Landin, who recorded a double-double in the victory. Landn made 10-of-17 shot attempts and canned 3-of-6 tries from three point range to record a career-high 27 points in the game. She also grabbed 12 rebounds, one shy of her career-high, and added a steal and a block.

Junior guard Amber Schweiger tied her career-high with 20 points and set a new career-best with eight rebounds in the game. She also made a career-high 11-of-16 attempts from the free throw line and added three assists, three steals, and a pair of blocks.

Junior Sydney Kin recorded a double-double as well for Findlay as she finished the game with 19 points and 12 rebounds. She also blocked two shots.

Sophomore Rachel Cooke added seven points, five rebounds, and three blocks while junior forward Paige Bellman had five points and four rebounds.

The Chargers had five players score in double figures and were led by Lauren Daffenberg's 19 points.

As a team, the Oilers shot 39.4 percent (26-of-66) from the floor and made 7-of-19 (36.8%) tries from behind the three point line. They also grabbed 50 rebounds and blocked ten shots in the win.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday, Dec. 5 when they travel to Cedarville, Ohio to face Cedarville University at 5:30 p.m.
