Oilers Beat Malone 80-72

The University of Findlay women's basketball team came away with an 80-72 win over Malone University on Jan. 8 in Niekamp Arena to push their record to 4-4 on the year with a 4-4 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers shot 47.2 percent (25-of-53) from the floor and made 24-of-28 (85.7%) of their free throw attempts. They also converted 40 percent (6-of-15) of their three point tries and held a 44-36 advantage on the boards during the win. Malone meanwhile made 35.4 percent (28-of-79) of their shot attempts and were 15-of-53 (28.3%) from behind the three point line.

Junior forward Sydney Kin led Findlay with 25 points and eight rebounds. She made 9-of-12 field goal attempts and cashed in all seven of her tries from the charity stripe.

Junior forward Bridget Landin also played well and recorded a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. She also added two blocks, two assists, and a steal.

Junior guard Amber Schweiger reached double figures with 13 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists while sophomore forward Rachel Cooke had nine points and five boards in the victory.

Alexis Hutchison led the Pioneers with 17 points while Robin Campbell chipped in 15.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Jan. 10 when they travel to Canton, Ohio to take on Walsh University at 2pm.
