Findlay Travels to Ky. Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene

After ten days off, the Oilers women's basketball team will be back in action this weekend with a pair of road games. On Thursday, Jan. 21, Findlay will head to Owensboro, Ky. to take on the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers and on Saturday, Jan. 23, will be in Nashville, Tenn. for a battle with the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans.

COVID-19 Information

The Oilers will not permit spectators at home basketball games this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Series Information

Kentucky Wesleyan: The Oilers and Panthers have met nine times with Findlay holding a 5-4 record in those contests. Findlay defeated KWC earlier this season with a 77-72 overtime win in Croy Gynmasium.

Trevecca Nazarene: Findlay and Trevecca have played seven times with the Oilers holding a strong 5-1 record in those games. The teams have yet to play this season as the game has been postponed numerous times.

The Oilers have won three straight against the Trojans, most recently a 65-61 win in February of last year.

Findlay

The Oilers got back to their winning ways in their most recent games, defeating Malone 80-72 at home and then going on the road and winning an overtime game against preseason conference favorite, Walsh. At 5-4, the Oilers find themselves in seventh in the conference standings.

Junior Sydney Kin was red hot before the ten-day break and looks to continue that success this weekend. In her past three games, Kin scored 28.7 pts/g and grabbed 13.7 reb/g while shooting 69% from the floor. For her stellar play, Kin was awarded both conference and national Player of the Week honors. This season, the Carey, Ohio native is scoring 21.3 ppg which ranks second in the conference and is bringing in 10.1 reb/g, as well.

Junior Bridget Landin has also seen an uptick in points and is now scoring 14.9 pts/g while shooting 51% from the floor. Her 8.7 reb/g are second on the team. Junior Amber Schweiger is the final player in double-figures at 12.3 pts/g. She leads the Oilers with 4.6 ast/g and 2.2 stl/g.

Kentucky Wesleyan

The Panthers sit at 6-3 right now and hold second place in the current conference standings. After losing to Findlay on Dec. 19, KWC has won five of its last six games with the only loss coming at the hands of first place Cedarville.

Senior Kaylee Clifford is the leading scorer for the Panthers at 12.0 pts/g and is the team's biggest threat from beyond the arc, hitting a team high 23 shots from deep while shooting 43%. She also leads the Panthers at 6.6 reb/g and has 12 blocks this season, the most on the team.

Sophomore Tahila Walton scores 10.8 pts/g while junior Leah Richardson scores 10.1 pts/g.

Trevecca Nazarene

The Trojans, battling COVID issues, have played just one game this season, a 94-61 loss to Cedarville on Jan. 19. Saturday against the Oilers will be just their third game of the year.

In that game against Cedarville, freshman Faith Wilken led the Trojans with 15 points, although she did struggle from the floor as she made just 5-of-20 field goal attempts including 1-of-12 from three.

Freshman Keeley Carter scored 13 points while sophomore Alex McFarlin chipped in ten. Carter was the team's leader with nine rebounds.
