Box Score

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's basketball team returned home on Tuesday, Jan. 26 to take on the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots. The Oilers handled their business and came away with a 94-63 victory to improve to 6-6 on the year while OVU remains winless at 0-6.

A slow start saw Findlay fall behind 10-5 through three minutes of play, but less than two minutes later the Orange and Black gained the lead at 13-12 and would not trail the reminder of the game.

Findlay was led in scoring by junior Sydney Kin who poured in 21 points on 10-of-21 from the floor. Kin, who leads the nation in field goals made, was a rebound shy of a double-double and also had two blocks.

Another standout performance for Findlay came from senior Allison Utterback who torched the Fighting Scots for 20 points on the strength of a 6-of-11 performance from beyond the three point line. All of her makes from three came in the first half and she was on pace to break the school record of eight made threes set Lynsey Englebrecht who made eight in multiple games in the 2017-18 season. Utterback is the first player for Findlay to make more than five triples in a game since Englebrecht did so against Ohio Dominican in March of 2018.

Junior Bridget Landin picked up a double-double in the game as she scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while junior Paige Bellman also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Junior Amber Schweiger had a career game as well as she set a new mark for herself with 12 assists in the game, surpassing her former career-high of 11 which she set earlier this season. Schweiger also scored six points and had three steals.

Off the bench, freshman Kate Ellis scored a career-high nine points and had a career-high four rebounds while senior Jessica Organ scored four points that included her first career triple.

The Oilers won't have much time to rest as they are back in action on Thursday, Jan. 28 at home with a game against Ohio Dominican. That contest will tip at 5:30 pm.
