Oilers Fall 88-82 to Ohio Dominican

The University of Findlay women's basketball team fell 88-82 to Ohio Dominican University on Jan. 28 in Niekamp Arena. The loss gives the Oilers a 6-7 record on the year with an identical mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers trailed 42-37 at the break, but outscored the Panthers 27-19 in the third period to take a 64-61 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Panthers then outscored the Oilers 27-18 in the final period to seal the game.

The Oilers shot 47.1 percent (32-of-68) from the floor while the Panthers converted 50 percent (34-of-68) of their shot attempts. The Oilers held a slight edge on the boards at 37-35, but turned the ball over 18 times in the loss.

Junior forward Sydney Kin paced Findlay with 26 points and 12 rebounds while junior guard Amber Schweiger recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists.

Senior guard Allison Utterback made 4-of-6 attempts from behind the three point line and finished with 16 points while junior forward Paige Bellman nearly recorded a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

The Panthers were led by Gabby Stare's 37 points and nine rebounds. Kennedy Schlabach added 22 points, six assists, and four rebounds as well.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday when they host Lake Erie College at 1pm.
