Oilers Fall 77-69 Against #9 Cedarville

The University of Findlay women's basketball team came up a bit short against Cedarville University on Feb. 8 in Niekamp Arena as they fell 77-69 to the 9th-ranked Yellow Jackets. The loss gives the Oilers a 9-8 record on the season.

The Oilers held a 38-34 lead at the break, but were out-scored 20-8 in the third quarter which proved to be the difference in the game as they ended the contest by hitting 43.8 percent (28-of-64) of their shot attempts. They also made 8-of-17 (47.1%) tries from three point range. The Yellow Jackets meanwhile connected on 44.2 percent (23-of-52) of their field goal attempts and made 16-of-40 (40%) shot attempts from long range.

Junior forward Sydney Kin led Findlay with 27 points and ten rebounds while junior forward Bridget Landin had 13 points and five assists.

Junior guard Amber Schweiger had nine points and seven rebounds while junior guard Lilly Simon had nine points off the bench.

Junior forward Paige Bellman scored four points and added a team-high 13 rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Emily Champman's 24 points. Ashlyn Huffman also had a great game as she recorded a triple-double with 18 points, ten assists, and ten rebounds.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday when they host Walsh University at 5:30 p.m.
