Findlay Makes Final Trip to Ohio Valley

The Findlay women's basketball team will travel to Vienna, West Virginia for the final time on Thursday, Feb. 18 to take on the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots who, after this season, will no longer be a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

Series Information – Ohio Valley: The Oilers and Fighting Scots have played nine times including their first matchup which happened in the 1998-99 season, a 71-63 win for the Oilers. Findlay is a perfect 9-0 against OVU and, since joining the G-MAC, have beaten the Scots by an average of 32 points per game.

On January 26 of this season, the Oilers welcomed the Fighting Scots to Croy and picked up a 94-63 victory. In that game, Sydney Kin scored 21 points and had nine rebounds while Allison Utterback scored 20 that included six threes, all of which came in the first half.

THE OILERS

Findlay is in seventh in the latest point standings in the conference and is looking to make a late season jump with just two games remaining. With both being road contests, two wins would certainly be rewarded with a rise in the standings.

The Oilers have won five of their last eight games dating back to that Jan. 26 game against Ohio Valley and have scored 78.5 ppg over that stretch while allowing just 68.3. In those eight games, Sydney Kin is scoring 21.6 ppg and grabbing 9.4 rebounds while Allison Utterback has come on strong, scoring 13.4 ppg and making 48% of her attempts from deep (26-of-54).

Ohio Valley

After breaking a 62-game losing streak towards the beginning of last season, the Fighting Scots have since gone 4-31 record including a 1-27 mark in G-MAC play. This year, OVU 0-14 and ranks last in the league in most statistical categories including offense (58.6 ppg), defense (90.4 ppg allowed), and rebounding (28.7 per game). 

On the roster of eight, Jordan Fox is the team's leading scorer at 14.5 ppg while Tanner Esposito scores 11.3 ppg and leads the Scots with a 41% percentage from deep.

Jemma Bennett scores 8.6 ppg and shoots 32% from the floor while Nahia Urturi-Ortiz scores 7.1 ppg and leads the team with 4.9 rebounds per game. Marina Garcia is the team's best passer, totaling 48 assists on the year.
