Findlay Drops Game to D1 Bowling Green

Box Score

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's basketball team suffered a non-conference loss on Friday, Dec. 30 as they traveled to Division I Bowling Green State University. The Falcon's dominant start proved too much for the Oilers, as they fell 92-51. Findlay falls to 4-9 on the season as Bowling Green improves to 11-1 on the year.

Midway through the first quarter, Bowling Green's lead remained less than ten at 16-10. The Falcons closed the quarter on a 11-2 run, ultimately taking a 27-12 heading into the second quarter. The Oilers were able to remain closer to the Falcon's in the second quarter as Bowling Green only outscored Findlay 19-15 but the Oilers still faced a 46-27 deficit heading into halftime.

The Falcon's play remained steady in the second half, outscoring Findlay 46-24 in the final 20 minutes of action. The Oilers were never able to overcome the hot hands of the Falcons this afternoon as Bowling Green hit .580 from the floor while the Oilers hit just .327 in the same statistic.

One key difference between the teams was turnovers. The Oilers, who have had issues protecting the ball this season, recorded 17 turnovers which led to 16 points for the Falcons. Bowling Green recorded just 8.

Junior Kate Ellis led the way with 17 points, making 4-of-6 attempts from the floor including one from beyond the arc. She also grabbed six rebounds.

Sophomores Chloe Callahan and Janae Hoying added eight and seven points respectively.

The Oilers are back in action in the new year as they travel on Thursday, Jan. 5 to Ursuline College to continue Great Midwest play. That contest will tip off at 5:30 pm.
