Second Half Haunts Oilers | Fall to Ursuline

Pepper Pike, Ohio- The University of Findlay hit the road to open up the new year as they faced Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) counterpart Ursuline College on Thursday, Jan. 5. Findlay trailed by just five at the half but Ursuline got hot in the second, ultimately going on to a 64-41 victory. The Oilers  fall to 4-10 on the season and 1-5 in the G-MAC as the Arrows improve to 8-6 and 4-2 in conference play.  

The first half saw back-and-forth action with both teams trading off the lead, one Ursuline ultimately took heading into the half with the Oilers trailing by just five at 29-24.

The Arrow's play remained steady in the second half, outscoring the Oilers 35-17 in the final 20 minutes of action. The Oilers were never able to overcome the hot hands of the Arrows tonight as Ursuline hit an impressive .481 from the floor in the second half including an impressive .615  in the fourth quarter.

On the night, the Oilers connected on just 16-of-53 (.302) from the floor including 2-of-19 (.105) from deep. Ursuline connected on 25-of-57 (.439) from the field and 5-of-17 (.294) from three-point range. 

Most notably, Findlay recorded 15 turnovers in the game which resulted in 16 points for the home team while the Oilers were only able to score 3 points on Ursuline's 12 turnovers.

Sophomore Chloe Callahan led the way with 10 points, making 5-of-10 from the floor. She also grabbed two rebounds. Leading the Oilers in rebounds was junior Valerie Muhlenkamp who grabbed eight boards.

Junior Kate Ellis and senior Lauren Hapgood both added eight points each. 

The Oilers are back in action when they travel Saturday, Jan. 7 to take on Cedarville at 2pm.
