Findlay Falls to Ursuline | Ellis Scores Career-High

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's basketball team came up short against the Ursuline Arrows on Thursday, Jan. 26 by a score of 75-66 in Croy Gymnasium. The loss is the eleventh consecutive for the Oilers and brings their record to 4-16 on the season with a 1-11 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Ursuline improves to 11-9 on the year with an 7-5 record in the conference.

Trailing by five through one quarter, the Arrow's added three more points to their lead in the second quarter, trailing just 39-31 with 20 minutes to play.

However, Ursuline was red hot from the floor, especially from three-point range, and went on to earn the nine-point victory. 

The Arrows made 51% of their shots from the floor compared to Findlay which shot 45.2% (28-of-62). Ursuline made 15-of-25 from three-point range compared to 7-of-17 by the Oilers. 

Junior Kate Ellis had a standout night for Findlay as she poured in a career-high 23 points. She was 10-of-15 from the floor and 3-of-4 from deep. She also led the team in rebounds, grabbing six, and chipped in three assists. Her previous career-high was set this season against Cedarville where she scored 20 points less than two weeks ago.

Freshman Alyssa Ziehler played well tonight, recording 12 points. Senior Amber Schweiger scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds while leading the team in assists with four.

Findlay is back on the court when they host Ohio Dominican on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3:00 pm.
