Oilers Lose on Road to Lake Erie

Painesville, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's basketball team came up short against the Lake Erie Storm on Thursday Feb, 2 by a score of 67-55. This brings their record to 5-17 on the season with a 2-12 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Lake Erie improves to 8-12 on the year with a 4-10 record in the conference. 

Lake Erie Storm outscored the Oilers in the first quarter by nine points. Findlay kept it close in the second quarter trailing Lake Erie by eight points. In the third quarter, Storm pulled ahead with a six-point lead and kept it, finishing the game, winning by 12.  

The Storm made 40% of their shots from the floor compared to the 33.9% (21-62) that the Oilers made. Findlay and Lake Erie were neck in neck for rebounds 38-37 for the Storm, and tied 19-all for turnovers.  

Sophomore Chloe Callahan led the team with 16 points for the Oilers. Junior Kate Ellis played well tonight, recording 15 points including one three-point shot. Freshman Alyssa Ziehler put up six points and had a team high 11 rebounds. Senior Amber Schweiger scored five points and made four assists. Senior Serena Sammarone had three rebounds and six points.  

The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 4 when they travel to Walsh University. That contest will tip off at 1:00 pm.
