Petty, Warner Earn All-Region Honors

Senior Kasey Petty and junior Shelby Warner were named all-East Region by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on May 16.

Petty was tabbed as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Golfer of the Year and was a first team all-league pick for the Oilers this season. She finished as the East Region runner-up with a school record 1-under par score of 215 (67, 74, 74) at the tournament. Her 5-under par score of 67 in the opening round also established a new school record for 18 holes.

Petty ranks sixth in NCAA Division II with a 74.46 scoring average. She was named an honorable mention All-American last year and also earned first team all-region and first team all-conference accolades during the 2015 campaign.

Warner, who was a second team all-conference pick for the Oilers this season, finished in a tie for eighth place at the regional tournament with a 54-hole score of 225 (73, 77, 75), the fourth-lowest mark in school history.

Warner currently ranks 100th in the nation in scoring average at 77.62. She was a second team all-conference pick in 2015 and an honorable mention all-league selection in 2014.

Both Petty and Warner will be in action on May 18-21 at the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship. The tournament will be held at the CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colo.
