Oilers Take Second at NC4K Classic

Blacklick, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's golf team wrapped up the NC4K College Classic on Tuesday, April 9 at Jefferson Country Club in Blacklick, Ohio. After sitting in first after one round, the Oilers dropped one spot to finish second in the tournament behind the east region's top team, the University of Indianapolis. Findlay shot a 307 on the day and finish with a two-round score of 608 (+32).

Findlay's best round of the day was turned in by junior Meredith Wipper who, after shooting a two-under 70 in the first round, shot a 76 in Tuesday's final round (+4). That score gave Wipper, who was tied for first in the field in par-5 scoring at -2, a second place finish, three shots back of the leader.

Tying for 12th were seniors Makenzie Torres and Samantha Hatter. They each finished with scored of 154 for the tournament. Torres shot a 79 (+7) in Tuesday's round while Hatter carded a 77 (+5).

Sophomore Kristinia Kniesly and junior Samantha Kellstrom each shot 77's on Tuesday, as well, to round out the scoring for Findaly. Kniesly finished the tournament tied for 19th after shooting a 156 while Kellstrom finished tied for 24th with a 159.

Freshman Jill Schmitmeyer competed as an individual in the tournament and fired back-to-back rounds of 75 (+3) and finishes in a tie for fourth with a 150 (+6) for the event.

Findlay's final event before postseason play begins will be the Walsh Invitational in Canton, Ohio on this Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14.
