Oilers at the Top of Leaderboard After Day 1
Allendale, Michigan- The University of Findlay women's golf team completed round one of competition at the Gilda's Club Laker Fall Invite on Saturday, September 28 at The Meadows. The Oilers shot a team score of 297 (+9) to give them a nine-stroke lead heading into the final round.
The Oilers were led by sophomore Jill Schmitmeyer after she posted a one-over par score of 73 in the first round. She currently is three strokes off the lead and is in second place. Right behind Schmitmeyer is teammate Kristina Kniesly, who fired a two-over par score of 74. Her score is good for third at the tournament.
Freshman Danbi Kim and senior Mackenzie Keenoy share a tie for 4th place after their rounds of 75 (+3) while senior Meredith Wipper is in 15th after carding an 80 in round one.
The #6 team in Division II women's golf will look to capture their second consecutive tournament victory with the conclusion of the event tomorrow.
